Simile - figure of speech involving a comparison between two unlike entities. In a simile, unlike a metaphor, the resemblance is indicated by the words “like” or “as” - her face was like a mask
Metonymy - figure of speech in which the name of an object or concept is replaced with a word closely related to or suggested by the original. While in metaphor this substitution is based on similarity, in metonymy the substitution works through other kinds of association (e.g. nearness, containment) - Moscow made a short statement
Synecdoche - figure of speech in which the association between the figurative and the literal senses is that between a part and the whole to which it belongs, e.g. farm hands
