Metaphor - a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally signifying one kind of object or idea is identified with or used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them, e.g. Jane is an angel
Classifying metaphors:
Concretive metaphor - uses a concrete term to talk about an abstract thing - their friendship melted away
Animistic metaphor - uses a term usually associated with animate things (living creatures) to talk about an inanimate thing - the leg of the table
Anthropomorphic metaphor (personification) - uses a term usually associated with human beings to talk about non-human thing - the hands of the clock
