Roger Williams (1603-1683)
Questioned a number of Puritan rules (he came to America in 1631)
The first one to introduce the idea of separation of State and church. He founded Rhode Island.
Wrote “A Key Into the Language of America” (1643) based on his studies in Indian languages.
Cotton Mather (1663-1728) “Magnalia Christi Americana” (1702)
Mary Rowlandson (1637-1711) “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson”
