Roughly - from the end of the 19th century to II World War.
The consequence of the transformation of society brought about by industrialism and technology in the course of the 19th century and then I World War.
Times of change - political, economic, technological.
The urgent necessity to discover new meanings and create new terms in a world that had lost shape and meaning for many people.
