Level of treatment In this treatment of energy storage and power flow, some results will be advanced by inductive
generalisation of formulae which can be established readily only in simple geometries.
In this aspect the present chapter may appear to differ from earlier chapters, where an
attempt was made to produce results by deduction from basic principles. Such a difference,
if it does exist, should not be seen as undermining the validity of the results to be
presented here. In any scientific work, the acceptance of any theory is only justified by
its continuing correctly to predict experimentally verifiable results. The validity of the
general formulae to be offerred below is amply justified by their success in providing a
framework for the prediction of experimentally verifiable observations.
